A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Tracing microbial community across endophyte-to-saprotroph continuum of Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Presl leaves considering priority effect of endophyte on litter decomposition

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Endophytes typically coexist with plants in symbiosis and transition into the saprobic system as plant tissues senesce, participating in the decomposition process of litter.

Interphase boundary segregation induced phase transformation in a high-pressure die casting Mg-Al-La-Ca-Mn alloy

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
The well-known Al11La3 structure in a die casting Mg-4Al-2La-2Ca-0.3Mn alloy was decomposed when heat treated at 400 °C. Transmission electron microscopy characterizations reveal the decomposition process as: Ca firstly segregated at Mg-Al11La3 ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Kinetics of thermal decomposition of titanium hydride powder using in situ high-temperature X-ray diffraction (HTXRD)

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2005
The thermal decomposition of titanium hydride powder (delta-phase) to titanium (alpha-phase) was investigated by means of thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and high-temperature X-ray diffraction (HTXRD) in high vacuum.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

ORTHOGONAL COMPONENTS OF THE THREE-PHASE CURRENT AT ASYMMETRICAL ACTIVE-REACTIVE LOAD IN 4-WIRE CIRCUIT

open access: yesElectrical engineering & Electromechanics, 2016
Purpose. For the unbalanced sinusoidal mode with asymmetric voltage in 3-phase 4-wire to receive the orthogonal 4-component decomposition of 3-phase current, are classified symmetry/asymmetry of active and reactive load elements separately.
