Simulation Study on the Electric Field of Three-Phase Three-Post Insulators Under Typical Defects

open access: yesEnergies
In three-phase three-post insulators, air gaps and crack defects are important sources of partial discharge and surface flashover. Using finite element analysis software, this study created a three-dimensional simulation model to investigate the effect ...

Unrestricted Hartree-Fock Analysis of Sr$_{3-x}$Ca$_x$Ru$_2$O$_7$

open access: yes, 2011
We investigated the electronic and magnetic structure of Sr$_{3-x}$Ca$_x$Ru$_2$O$_7$ ($0 \leq x \leq 3$) on the basis of the double-layered three-dimensional multiband Hubbard model with spin-orbit interaction.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Quantifying structural distortion manipulation for desired perovskite phase: Part II. Three-step workflow to reveal phase evolution logic

open access: yesJournal of Materiomics
Distortion manipulation emerges as an efficient approach to obtain desired perovskite phases for various applications. In part I of this study, we propose a paradigm to quantify the structural distortion manipulation, which enables us to obtain desired ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Berry Curvature in Graphene: A New Approach

open access: yes, 2008
In the present paper we have directly computed the Berry curvature terms relevant for Graphene in the presence of an \textit{inhomogeneous} lattice distortion.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Lattice Distortion and Phase Stability of Pd-Doped NiCoFeCr Solid-Solution Alloys

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
In the present study, we have revealed that (NiCoFeCr)100−xPdx (x= 1, 3, 5, 20 atom%) high-entropy alloys (HEAs) have both local- and long-range lattice distortions by utilizing X-ray total scattering, X-ray diffraction, and extended X-ray ...
