Simulation Study on the Electric Field of Three-Phase Three-Post Insulators Under Typical Defects

open access: yesEnergies
In three-phase three-post insulators, air gaps and crack defects are important sources of partial discharge and surface flashover. Using finite element analysis software, this study created a three-dimensional simulation model to investigate the effect ...

Structure of covalently bonded materials: From the Peierls distortion to Phase-Change Materials

open access: yes, 2016
The relation between electronic structure and cohesion of materials has been a permanent quest of Jacques Friedel and his school. He developed simple models that are of great value as guidelines in conjunction with ab initio calculations.

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

An Ameliorated Phase Generated Carrier Demodulation Algorithm With Low Harmonic Distortion and High Stability

open access: yes, 2010
A novel ameliorated phase generated carrier (PGC) demodulation algorithm based on arctangent function and differential-self-multiplying (DSM) is proposed in this paper.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Optimized laser turrets for minimum phase distortion

open access: yes, 1980
An analysis and computer program which optimizes laser turret geometry to obtain minimum phase distortion is described. Phase distortion due to compressible, inviscid flow over small perturbation laser turrets in subsonic or supersonic flow is calculated.

Suppression of projector distortion in phase-measuring profilometry by projecting adaptive fringe patterns.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
In phase-measuring profilometry, the lens distortion of commercial projectors may introduce additional bending carrier phase and thus lead to measurement errors.

Enhancing Strength and Electrical Conductivity in Al–Zr–Sc Conductor Alloys Through Sn and Sr Microalloying and Two‐Step Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Trace additions of Sn and Sr combined with a two‐step aging treatment are shown to enhance the microstructure and performance of Al–Zr–Sc conductor alloys. Strength and electrical conductivity increase concurrently through accelerated precipitation of fine Al3(Sc, Zr) precipitates and improved dislocation resistance, offering a cost‐effective pathway ...

Filter based phase distortions in extracellular spikes

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2017
Extracellular recordings are the primary tool for extracting neuronal spike trains in-vivo. One of the crucial pre-processing stages of this signal is the high-pass filtration used to isolate neuronal spiking activity. Filters are characterized by changes in the magnitude and phase of different frequencies.
