Phase Distortion and Phase Distortion Correction

Bell System Technical Journal, 1928
The importance of the rocle played by the steady state phase characteristics of long cable circuits has recently been emphasized in telephone and telegraph transmission. In this paper an analytical exposition of the theory of phase distortion is followed by a consideration of various methods of phase distortion correction with particular reference to ...

Measurement of Phase Distortion*

Bell System Technical Journal, 1930
This paper deals with the measurement of phase distortion or delay distortion and is particularly concerned with measurements on telephone circuits. For this purpose, use is made of a quantity defined as “envelope delay,” which is the first derivative of the phase shift with respect to frequency.

Phase transformation effect in distortion and residual stress of thin-sheet laser welded Ti-alloy

Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 2019
To overcome the detrimental effect of residual stress and distortion in a welded structure, there is continued interest on the assessment of stress field and deformation pattern.

Phase Distortion in Telephone Apparatus*

Bell System Technical Journal, 1930
This paper shows that if, over its transmitting range, the phase shift, B, in radians, of a four-terminal network may be written B = a 0 + a 1 ω (ω = 2πx frequency in cycles per second), there is no phase distortion if a 0 = N, N being any integer. However, there is a delay, for any signal, given by dB/dω = a 1 (seconds).

An Improved Phase Modulator with Low Nonlinear Distortion

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1980
A phase modulator with good phase linearity over an extended range of inputs is described. Performance results in terms of signal-to-distortion ratio are given.

High-Speed and Time-Interleaved ADCs Using Additive-Neural-Network-Based Calibration for Nonlinear Amplitude and Phase Distortion

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems Part 1: Regular Papers, 2022
This paper presents a neural network-based digital calibration algorithm for high-speed and time-interleaved (TI) ADCs. In contrast with prior methods, the proposed work features joint amplitude-dependent and phase-dependent nonlinear distortion ...
