The distorted-fcc phase of samarium
Angle-dispersive x-ray powder diffraction experiments were performed on samarium metal up to 50 GPa. We report that the high-pressure distorted-fcc phase has the same hR24 structure observed in praseodymium, but, unlike praseodymium, samarium does not undergo a transition to a second distorted-fcc phase.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Modulating Phase Encoding With Amplitude Compensation for Hologram Reconstruction
In holographic three-dimensional (3D) display, phase-only spatial light modulators (SLMs) can only accept pure phase modulation signals, often leading to amplitude distortion in the reconstructed image and inaccurate object reconstruction.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

In airborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging, slant-range errors vary across the swath, making phase errors range-dependent. However, the conventional phase gradient autofocus (PGA) method assumes a range-invariant phase model and becomes ...

ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Sensitivity to phase distortions in central and peripheral vision [PDF]
Sensitivity to phase quantization of a two-dimensional random texture pattern was investigated in central and peripheral vision, using the method of Caelli and Bevan (1982). The random texture was phase quantized with two-octave-wide bands centered on spatial frequencies of 2, 4, 8, and 16 cycles per degree (cpd).

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Signal distortion noise in volume phase holograms
Signal distortion noise in volume phase holograms is analysed for the case in which the object beam consists of two plane waves. It is shown that, for a given (on-Bragg) signal diffraction efficiency, the magnitude of the signal distortion noise is ...
