Packaging of Macroscopic Material Payloads: Needs, Challenges, Concepts, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review introduces a unified framework that decomposes any macroscopic packaging system into the payload, packaging material, and packaging strategy and combines them into a conceptual packaging equation: packaging strategy = payload + packaging material.

Single phase inverter design based on selective harmonic elimination method

open access: yesSakarya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Dergisi, 2013
Minimization of harmonic distortions in voltage source inverters' output wave form is very important. In this paper, a single phase inverter design that can change the operating frequency between 5 Hz – 50 Hz to achieve the keeping the voltage/frequency ...

Magnetic Phase Diagrams of Manganites-like Local-Moment Systems with Jahn-Teller distortions

open access: yes, 2008
We use an extended two-band Kondo lattice model (KLM) to investigate the occurrence of different (anti-)ferromagnetic phases or phase separation depending on several model parameters.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Tribological Performance of 60NiTi Alloy Under Varying Contact Conditions and Elevated Temperatures in Linear Reciprocating Sliding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the tribological response of 60NiTi alloy under dry, water‐lubricated and high‐temperature conditions. The alloy exhibits decreasing wear volume and friction with increasing temperature due to the formation of protective oxide layers. The work clarifies dominant wear mechanisms and demonstrates the suitability of 60NiTi for high‐

Atomic PDF analysis as a basis for calculating the electronic structure of quantum materials [PDF]

open access: yesStructural Dynamics
Competing interactions in quantum materials lead to the emergence of unusual electronic ground states, including unconventional superconductivity, charge density waves (CDWs), complex magnetic and nematic orders, and Kondo lattices, to name a few.

Adaptive Phase Distortion Synthesis

open access: yes, 2009
This article discusses Phase Distortion synthesis and its application to arbitrary input signals. The main elements that compose the technique are presented. Its similarities to Phase Modulation are discussed and the equivalence between the two techniques is explored. Two alternative methods of distorting the phase of an arbitrary signal are presented.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.
