The stages model and the phases of the IS field

Journal of Information Technology, 1994
We argue that the organization's internal time-path of computer usage should be located in a context of changes in the IS field as a whole. A model of the history of information systems management within user organizations is presented here, which specifies a series of phases the IS field has gone through.

High-field phase in the magnetic-field-induced electronic phase transition of graphite

Physical Review B, 1992
The magnetoresistance of single-crystal graphite has been measured at low temperatures in pulsed high magnetic fields up to 52 T applied parallel to the c axis. Many features were found in the high-field phase after the field-induced electronic phase transition. After the sharp rise at the phase transition, the resistance shows a dramatic decrease with

Berry's phase in field theory

Physical Review D, 1990
By considering the effect of unitary transformations on the path integral for a gauge field interacting with a fermion over a suitable manifold, we generalize the Berry phase to field theory. The resulting framework is gauge invariant and offers insight into some problems.

Phase conjugation of an optical near field

Optics Letters, 1994
Using degenerate four-wave mixing in an Fe:LiNbO(3) 0.04-wt. % crystal and an external-reflection near-field optical microscope, we have achieved phase conjugation of light emitted by a fiber tip. We observe that the phase-conjugated light at a wavelength of 633 nm can reach a power of ~0.1 nW and produce a 180-nm-wide spot image in the near-field ...

A phase field model of capillarity

Physics of Fluids, 1995
The phenomenological derivation of a phase field model of capillarity that accounts for the structure of an interfacial layer formed by two immiscible incompressible liquids is addressed. A rheological expression for the reversible component of capillary stresses is obtained in terms of the free energy of a binary fluid, which depends on the absolute ...

Dynamic phase of the electromagnetic field

Physical Review A, 1995
The quantum state of the electromagnetic field produced by a known current distribution consists of a coherent state multiplied by a time-dependent phase factor. This nonclassical phase factor includes a dynamic component that vanishes in the quasistatic limit of slowly varying currents.

Phase field method

Materials Science and Technology, 2010
In an ideal scenario, a phase field model is able to compute quantitative aspects of the evolution of microstructure without explicit intervention. The method is particularly appealing because it provides a visual impression of the development of structure, one which often matches observations.

Phase Field Methods

2020
This article reviews the principles and applications of the phase field technique for modeling phase transformations and microstructural evolutions, with an emphasis on solid-solid transformations. Conventional phase field models, which rely on phenomenological thermodynamic and kinetic descriptions, are first presented and examples of application are ...
