Phase Field Simulation of AA6XXX Aluminium Alloys Heat Treatment
Heat treatment has a significant impact on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Si alloys. The present study presents a first Phase-Field modelling approach on the recrystallisation and grain growth mechanism during annealing.

STOCHASTIC PHASE-FIELD SIMULATIONS OF SYMMETRIC ALLOY SOLIDIFICATION [PDF]
We study initial transient stages in directional solidification by means of a non-variational phase field model with fluctuations. This model applies for the symmetric solidification of dilute binary solutions and does not invoke fluctuation-dissipation theorem to account for the fluctuation statistics.

Evaluation of the elastic field in phase‐field crystal simulations
AbstractThe phase‐field crystal model (PFC) describes crystal structures at diffusive timescales through a periodic order parameter representing the atomic density. One of its main features is that it naturally incorporates elastic and plastic deformation.

A phase-field simulation of the solidification process under compression
Semi-solid metal forming processes cover a wide variety of technologies in manufacturing, generally leading to non-dendritic microstructures typified by rosette-like or spherical grains.

A new continuous multi-phase transformation field model was established for liquid-solid-eutectoid transformation. Taking Fe-C alloy as an example, the model was used to simulate the evolution of the micromorphology of the liquid-solid phase transition ...

Phase field simulations in miscibility gaps [PDF]
Abstract Using phase field simulations, it is possible to simulate the dynamics and morphology of immiscible liquids/solids appearing at the miscibility gap of any system. These simulations may also be used to determine the asymptotic compositions of the fluids for a given Gibbs energy.

Phase Field Simulations of Wetting Based on Molecular Simulations [PDF]
AbstractManufacturing techniques that can produce surfaces with a defined microstructure are in the focus of current research efforts. The ability to manufacture such surfaces gives rise to the need for numerical models that can predict the wetting properties of a given microstructure and can help to optimize these surfaces with respect to certain ...

A Soluble Phase Field Model [PDF]
The kinetics of an initially undercooled solid-liquid melt is studied by means of a generalized Phase Field model, which describes the dynamics of an ordering non-conserved field phi (e.g.

Phase-Field Simulation of Spinodal Decomposition in Mn-Cu Alloys
The spinodal decomposition was studied in the aged Mn-40 at. %Cu, Mn-30 at. %Cu, Mn-20 at. %Cu alloys using a phase-field model based on the Cahn–Hillard equation, considering a subregular solution model and the energy contribution of the magnetic ...
