Solid solutions in disulfide systems Re(IV)S2–Ti(IV)S2, Re(IV)S2–Mo(IV)S2, and Re(IV)S2–W(IV)S2

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии
Objectives. Chalcogenides of transition elements with low oxidation states, as well as their substituted derivatives, remain a poorly studied class of chemical compounds.

Causality and defect formation in the dynamics of an engineered quantum phase transition in a coupled binary Bose-Einstein condensate

open access: yes, 2012
Continuous phase transitions occur in a wide range of physical systems, and provide a context for the study of non-equilibrium dynamics and the formation of topological defects.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Entropic Stabilization and Retrograde Solubility in Zn4Sb3

open access: yes, 2010
Zn4Sb3 is shown to be entropically stabilized versus decomposition to Zn and ZnSb though the effects of configurational disorder and phonon free energy. Single phase stability is predicted for a range of compositions and temperatures.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Interdiffusion and phase formation at iron-tungsten interfaces

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2019
Low-activation steels are attractive candidates for wall materials in future nuclear-fusion power plants. Through a process called preferential sputtering, an enriched tungsten (W) layer is expected to develop on these steels, lowering erosion and thus ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Direct Determination Of γ′ / γ′+γ / γ Phase Boundaries In Ni-Al-Cr System Based On Enthalpy Of Formation Results Obtained By Calorimetric Solution Method

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2015
The work is a continuation of the research carried out on a high-temperature calorimeter solution type on alloys from Ni-Al-Cr system. Thanks to the construction innovation introduced by authors the device allows the determination of the formation ...

Origin of the Metal-Insulator Transition of Indium Atom Wires on Si(111)

open access: yes, 2016
As a prototypical one-dimensional electron system, self-assembled indium (In) nanowires on the Si(111) surface have been believed to drive a metal-insulator transition by a charge-density-wave (CDW) formation due to electron-phonon coupling.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
