Dispersed‐phase holdup in a rotating disk extraction column

AIChE Journal, 1961
AbstractA study has been made of the effect of column geometry and flow condition upon the dispersed‐phase holdup in an rotating disk type of extraction column. Variables investigated were stator opening, disk diameter, compartment height, rotor speed, and flow rates of the dispersed and continuous phases.

DISPERSED PHASE HOLDUP IN PULSED PERFORATED PLATE COLUMNS

Solvent Extraction and Ion Exchange, 1990
ABSTRACT Data on dispersed phase holdup are presented for a range of aqueous-organic systems, and are used to assess the accurancy of existing methods for its prediction. The Griffith model (2) for the mixer-settler region and the Thornton correlation (3) for the dispersion region were found to be the most accurate for high interfaclal tension systems;

Numerical Investigation of Gas Holdup and Phase Mixing in Bubble Column Reactors

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2011
A discrete bubble model (DBM) has been used to study the overall gas holdup and the phase mixing in bubble column reactors. The Eulerian–Lagrangian approach has the advantage that it is possible to study the overall gas holdup and the gas phase mixing in a direct way.
