Effect of internal on phase holdups of a three-phase fluidized bed
Chemical Engineering Journal, 2009Abstract Individual phase holdups are important dynamic parameters in the designing of three-phase fluidized bed systems. The system chosen for the present study is nitrogen as gaseous phase, an electrolyte as liquid phase and glass balls as solid phase. The gas holdup was obtained from pressure drop measurements.

Dispersed-Phase Holdup and Characteristic Velocity in an Agitated-Pulsed Solvent Extraction Column
The agitated-pulsed column (APC) is expected to exhibit good transfer. The dispersed-phase holdup and characteristic velocity were measured using a 25-mm diameter APC.

In the gas-water two phase of horizontal well, gas holdup is usually obtained by inverse calculation of the water holdup measured by the array capacitance probes. Gas Array Tool (GAT) has been developed to directly measure gas holdup. This instrument has

International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1984
Abstract A wide range of experimental holdup data have been analysed on the basis of the general correlations of Chen & Spedding (1983). For upward inclined flow, holdup data in the range ( R G / R L ) = 4.0 to 275 were handled using a modification of the Chen & Spedding method, and for the case of ( R G / R L ) ⩽

Phase holdups in three‐phase fluidized beds
AIChE Journal, 1987AbstractThe local bubble frequency, the local phase holdups and the local bed porosity in three‐phase fluidized beds were measured. Air, water, and 250 μm glass beads were used as the gas, liquid, and solid phases. The effects of gas and liquid velocities on phase holdups were studied.

Phase holdup characteristics in three phase fluidized beds
The Chemical Engineering Journal, 1990Abstract The bed porosity and the individual phase holdup characteristics in three phase fluidized beds with a wide range of liquid properties have been examine The liquid phase holdup increases with liquid velocity and viscosity, column diameter and liquid surface tension; it decreases with gas velocity, parti The liquid phase holdup and the bed ...

Holdup in Vertical Three Phase Flow
Developments in Chemical Engineering and Mineral Processing, 1999AbstractVertical three phase air‐water‐oil data in a. 0.026 m i.d. pipe were presented. The liquid holdup data presented as a complex pattern against f0 the oil liquid volumetric ratio for annular flow at one value of total superficial liquid velocity.

Phase holdup characteristics of three phase fluidized beds
The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1975AbstractThe individual phase holdups in two (liquid‐air, liquid‐solids) and three (liquid‐air‐solids) phase fluidized beds have been measured over a wide range of liquid and gas velocities. Ex‐periments were canied out in a large two‐dimensional bed. Three solids were used ranging in size from 1 to 6 mm.The effect of viscosity (1‐70 cp) was determined ...

Phase holdups in three-phase fluidized beds in the presence of disc promoter
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2011Abstract Three-phase fluidized beds are found to have wide applications in process industries. The present investigation essentially comprises of the studies on gas holdup, liquid holdup and bed porosity in three-phase fluidized beds with coaxially placed disc promoter.

GAS-PHASE HOLDUP IN A SLURRY-BUBBLE COLUMN
Chemical Engineering Communications, 1997Abstract Total and sectional gas-phase holdups are measured in a wide (0.305 m internal diameter) and long (3.7 m) glass bubble column al ambient conditions as a function of superficial gas velocity. Sectional gas holdup values vary along the length of the column and decrease as the height above the gas distributor plate increases in the transitional ...
