Surface Wave Analysis in Laterally Varying Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This work studies the possibility of using surface wave analysis as a tool for a robust estimation of the S-wave velocity behaviour in laterally varying media.

Poly(vinylidene fluoride) membranes by an ultrasound assisted phase inversion method

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2013
Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membranes were prepared by an ultrasound assisted phase inversion process. The effect of ultrasonic intensity on the evolution of membrane morphology with and without the addition of pore former LiCl during precipitation process was comprehensively investigated.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Jinv: a parallel method for distributed matrix inversion

open access: yes, 2010
The past few years have seen the Grid maturing towards a final product, along with an increased popularity with researchers simulating their projects which contain some form of matrix inversion. The inversion of a matrix is very resource intensive and is

Elastic Wave Phase Inversion in the Local-Scale Frequency–Wavenumber Domain with Marine Towed Simultaneous Sources

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Elastic full waveform inversion (EFWI) is a crucial technique for retrieving high-resolution multi-parameter information. However, the lack of low-frequency components in seismic data may induce severe cycle-skipping phenomena in elastic full waveform ...

Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

Reevaluating the necessity of static shift correction in magnetotelluric inversion

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Magnetotelluric (MT) is a significant electromagnetic exploration method. However, due to uneven distribution of surface charges and other factors, static shift often affects observed data, reducing the accuracy of inversion and interpretation ...

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

Inversion of Elastic and Fracture Parameters in Tilted Transverse Isotropic Media with Parameter Standardization

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study addresses inversion challenges in tilted transverse isotropic (TTI) media affected by inclined fractures. A new method is proposed to derive the reflection coefficient for such media, combining scattering theory with the steady-phase method ...
