On-sky observations with an achromatic hybrid phase knife coronagraph in the visible [PDF]
CONTEXT: The four-quadrant phase mask stellar coronagraph, introduced by D. Rouan et al., is capable of achieving very high dynamical range imaging and was studied in the context of the direct detection of extra-solar planets.

Beam tracking X-ray Phase Contrast Imaging is a “Shack-Hartmann” type approach which uses a pre-sample mask to split the x-rays into “beamlets” which are interrogated by a detector with sufficient resolution. The ultimate spatial resolution is determined

STUDY OF SIGNIFICANCE OF PHASE MASK IMAGE IN ACUTE STROKE PATIENTS
Background: Phase images contains information regarding local susceptibility changes between the tissues, which can help measure the iron and other content which changes the local field.

Phase measurements of EUV mask defects [PDF]
Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) Lithography mask defects were examined on the actinic mask imaging system, SHARP, at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. A quantitative phase retrieval algorithm based on the Weak Object Transfer Function was applied to the measured through-focus aerial images to examine the amplitude and phase of the defects.

A novel optical multiple-image hiding method is proposed based on two cascaded free-space propagation transforms in this paper. With the use of the structured phase mask in the phase retrieval algorithm, a plain image is encoded to only one statistically

Spectrally exclusive phase masks for wavefront coding [PDF]
The use of phase masks is necessary for wavefront coding, and these are often based on optical path differences. However, the optical dispersion constrains the resulting device to operate within a restricted spectral bandwidth. Here we propose to remove this constraint due to sub-wavelength structuration of the surface.

Post-coronagraphic tip-tilt sensing for vortex phase masks: the QACITS technique [PDF]
Small inner working angle coronagraphs, like the vortex phase mask, are essential to exploit the full potential of ground-based telescopes in the context of exoplanet detection and characterization.

Extinction controlled Adaptive Mask Coronagraph Lyot and Phase Mask dual concept for wide extinction area [PDF]
A dual coronagraph based on the Adaptive Mask concept is presented in this paper. A Lyot coronagraph with a variable diameter occulting disk and a nulling stellar coronagraph based on the Adaptive Phase Mask concept using polarization interferometry are ...

Retardation and reduction of pulse distortion by group-velocity dispersion through pulse shaping [PDF]
We show that a reduction in the pulse distortion caused by chromatic dispersion can be achieved through pulse shaping. We argue that a simple binary phase mask in the Fourier plane of the laser spectrum can improve the transmission of short pulses in a ...
