Identification of a haemolysin-like peptide with antibacterial activity using the draft genome sequence of Staphylococcus epidermidis strain A487.

open access: yesFEMS Immunology & Medical Microbiology, 2011
Our interest in Staphylococcus epidermidis strain A487 was prompted by the unusual nature of its inhibitory activity in screening tests against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates.

Thermal adaptation of net ecosystem exchange [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Thermal adaptation of gross primary production and ecosystem respiration has been well documented over broad thermal gradients. However, no study has examined their interaction as a function of temperature, i.e.

Possible power quality ancillary services in low voltage grids provided by the three-phase damping control strategy

open access: yes, 2020
The share of renewable energy is increasing because of environmental concerns and favorable economic conditions. The majority of the distributed energy resources, connected to the low-voltage grid, are inverter-connected units.

STRUCTURAL PHASE TRANSITIONS IN PROTON EXCHANGED LAYERS OF LITHIUM NIOBATE CRYSTALS DURING ANNEALING

open access: yesКонденсированные среды и межфазные границы, 2017
Lithium niobate crystals are widely used in the manufacturing of integrated optical phase and intensity modulators. The production method is based on the formation of optical waveguides in the surface layers of LiNbO3 by means of proton exchange ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Microfluidic Technologies for High-Throughput Screening Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In this thesis, I present a strategy for the design and development of microfluidic devices for high-throughput screening applications, such as mutant enzyme libraries expressed in prokaryotic hosts, where a few point mutations at the DNA level ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
