Analysis of structure formation processes features in high-entropy alloys of Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni system during laser alloying

open access: yesResults in Materials, 2022
Using the time dependent nucleation theory, the temperature dependences of the heterogeneous nucleation time for multicomponent substitution solid solutions, the formation of which is typical for high-entropy alloys in Al–Co–Cr–Fe–Ni systems obtained by ...

Synthesis and phase stability of zirconia-lanthania-ytterbia-yttria nanoparticles; a promising advanced TBC material

open access: yesJournal of Asian Ceramic Societies, 2020
Advanced thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) developed by incorporating multicomponent rare earth oxide dopants into zirconia are promising alternative to replace yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) thermal barrier coatings.

Comparison between solution‐phase stability and gas‐phase kinetic stability of oligodeoxynucleotide duplexes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mass Spectrometry, 2001
AbstractThe relative kinetic stabilities of different 16‐mer oligonucleotide duplexes were investigated by source collision‐induced dissociation (CID) in a heated capillary electrospray ion source. They were compared with the relative stabilities in solution obtained by thermal denaturation monitored by UV spectrophotometry.

First-Principle Study of AlCoCrFeNi High-Entropy Alloys

open access: yesNanomaterials
AlCoCrFeNi high-entropy alloys (HEAs) are promising materials due to their exceptional mechanical properties and thermal stability. This study employs first-principles calculations based on density functional theory (DFT) to investigate the phase ...

An improved reduction method for phase stability testing in the single-phase region

open access: yesOpen Chemistry, 2020
A new reduction method for mixture phase stability testing is proposed, consisting in Newton iterations with a particular set of independent variables and residual functions. The dimension of the problem does not depend on the number of components but on

Stability of phase-contrast tomography

open access: yesJournal of the Optical Society of America A, 2007
Phase-contrast tomography (PCT) allows three-dimensional imaging of objects that display insufficient contrast for conventional absorption-based tomography. We prove that PCT is stable with respect to high-frequency noise in experimental phase-contrast data, unlike conventional tomography, which is known to be mildly unstable.

Thermodynamic geometry of black holes in f(R) gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we consider three types (static, static charged and rotating charged) of black holes in f(R) gravity. We study the thermodynamical behavior, stability conditions and phase transition of these black holes.

Decreasing viscosity and increasing accessible load by replacing classical diluents with a hydrotrope in liquid–liquid extraction

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemical Engineering
Using a generic example, we show that the strategy of replacing a classically used aliphatic diluent with a hydrotrope in liquid–liquid extraction induces higher performance.
