Twist as a Probe for Phase Structure
Physica Scripta, 1981Summary: We advocate the use of twist as an efficient tool, in computer simulated lattice gauge theories, for quick scan of phase diagrams and for determining phase structure. Physically, a twist is an excitation induced by a specific dislocation (`twisted boundary condition') in the system.

Structures and Phase Transitions in Pertechnetates
Inorganic Chemistry, 2019The temperature dependence of the structures of four pertechnetates (ATcO4 A = Ag, Tl, Rb, Cs) from 90 K to their melting points is described. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements show that RbTcO4 undergoes a I41/a to I41/amd transition near 530 K that is associated with a change in the orientation of the TcO4- tetrahedra about the scheelite b ...

The temporal structure of S phase
Cell, 1975DNA synthesis in the S phase of V79 and CHO Chinese hamster cells was examined in detail using an automated system for selection and subculturing of mitotic cells and four different assays for DNA synthesis. Flow microfluorometric (FMF) analysis showed that the selected populations were highly synchronous with few noncycling cells. In CHO cells changes

Phase structure of strange matter
Physical Review D, 1993We present a detailed discussion of the phase structure of hadronic matter with finite strangeness content and discuss the thermodynamic conditions for the formation of metastable strange quark droplets ( strangelets'') in relativistic nuclear collisions.

The Gas-Phase Structure of Alanine
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2004The jet-cooled rotational spectrum of neutral alanine has been studied using laser-ablation molecular-beam Fourier transform microwave spectroscopy (LA-MB-FTMW). The spectra of the two most stable forms were observed in the frequency range 6-18 GHz for the parent, (15)N alanine, three single (13)C species, and four single D species.

In this study, the effects of composition and phase constitution on the mechanical properties and magnetic performance of AlCoCuFeNix (x = 0.5, 0.8, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 in molar ratio) high entropy alloys (HEAs) were investigated. The results show that Ni

The effect of phase structures on spatial phase discrimination
Vision Research, 1984This study was concerned with the discrimination of multifrequency gratings which differed only in the relative phase of one sinewave component (the test frequency) relative to the other components (the background frequencies). The dependent variable was the contrast of the test frequency required to discriminate between the two gratings.

Phase-space structure of a thermoreceptor
Physical Review E, 2000We analyze the phase-space structure of a model for thermoreceptors in fish and mammals. As a function of the temperature we identify a period doubling scenario at low temperatures, a regime where an unstable stationary fixed point collides with the attractor and blocks the thermoreceptor, and a transition from period n+1 to period n as the temperature
