Thermal equilibrium in string theory in the Hagedorn phase
In string theory, a thermal state is described by compactifying Euclidean time on a thermal circle S β 1 $$ {S}_{\beta}^1 $$ , of fixed circumference.

Renormalization group theory for the imbalanced Fermi gas
We formulate a wilsonian renormalization group theory for the imbalanced Fermi gas. The theory is able to recover quantitatively well-established results in both the weak-coupling and the strong-coupling (unitarity) limit.

ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Mean string field theory: Landau-Ginzburg theory for 1-form symmetries
By analogy with the Landau-Ginzburg theory of ordinary zero-form symmetries, we introduce and develop a Landau-Ginzburg theory of one-form global symmetries, which we call mean string field theory.

Spin-liquid phase and order by disorder of classical Heisenberg spins on the swedenborgite lattice
Frustration refers to the inability to satisfy competing interactions simultaneously, often leading to a large number of degenerate ground states. This can suppress ordering tendencies, sometimes resulting in a spin-liquid phase.

Efficient phase unwrapping [PDF]
In the field of optical interferometry, two-dimensional projections of light interference patterns are often analysed in order to obtain measurements of interest.

Chern-Simons theory and atypical Hall conductivity in the Varma phase
In this article, we analyze the topological response of a fermionic model defined on the Lieb lattice in the presence of an electromagnetic field. The tight-binding model is built in terms of three species of spinless fermions and supports a topological ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Dynamical quantum phase transitions from random matrix theory [PDF]
We uncover a novel dynamical quantum phase transition, using random matrix theory and its associated notion of planar limit. We study it for the isotropic XY Heisenberg spin chain.
