On Einsteinian velocity addition and the notion of phase velocity
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1977It is shown that conventional notions of the electromagnetic phase velocity in moving media are in general, inconsistent with the Einsteinian velocity addition. A new vector quantity, normalized phase slowness, is introduced and shown to be consistent with both the Lorentz transformation and the Einsteinian law of velocity addition.
