Portable Ultrasonic Phased Array System

2004
A new portable Phased Array System is presented in this contribution. Due to the modern computer technology it allows to generate in a fast way sector scans with extremely high lateral and axial resolution. The sector scan image is a final composition of separate scans with sound beams being focussed to different depths and then scanned by sweeping and

Phased Array Ultrasonic Inspection of Titanium Forgings

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
Aerospace forging inspections typically use multiple, subsurface‐focused sound beams in combination with digital C‐scan image acquisition and display. Traditionally, forging inspections have been implemented using multiple single element, fixed focused transducers.

An Ultrasonic Phased Array Applicator for Hyperthermia

IEEE Transactions on Sonics and Ultrasonics, 1984
An ultrasonic phased array applicator for hyperthermia provides electronic steering of the sound beam rather than mechanical movement of the transducer assembly. An applicator consisting of a stack of linear phased arrays is examined. The effects of various design parameters, including individual array height and length, are discussed.

Rail weld inspection using phased array ultrasonics

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
Inspection of rail welds has always been a challenge to the Railways. The conventional ultrasonic methods which are employed now for the detection of defects are not found to be good enough for defects that exist in different parts of the weld. Phased Array Ultrasonics which performs sectorial scanning could be used effectively for detection of defects

Ultrasonic receive beamformer with phased sub-arrays

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1997
An ultrasonic receive beamformer includes transducers forming receive signals that are applied to sub-array processors. Each sub-array processor includes at least one phase shifter and a summer, and each phase shifter is responsive to at least one of the transducer signals to shift the transducer signal by a respective phase angle and to apply the ...

Two-dimensional phased array of ultrasonic transducers

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1991
A two-dimensional ultrasonic phase array is a rectilinear approximation to a circular aperture and is formed by a plurality of transducers, arranged substantially symmetrical about both a first (X) axis and a second (Y) axis and in a plurality of subarrays, each extended in a first direction (i.e.

Improvement of ultrasonic testing by phased arrays

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1983
Abstract Methods for defect reconstruction and classification using the flexible and fast electronic beam forming with phased arrays have been described. Using the electronic sector scan, a reflecting point is represented as a short circular curve, the length of which is dependent upon beam width and system sensitivity.

Optimization of tunnel grouting detection technology based on ultrasonic phased array

Measurement science and technology
Due to the lack of a perfect and convenient method to detect the grouting quality of shield tunnels, an optimized ultrasonic phased array tunnel grouting detection technology is proposed.
