Harmonic and Interharmonic Phasor Estimation Using Matrix Pencil Method for Phasor Measurement Units

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2021
This paper proposes a novel approach to estimate the fundamental frequency, harmonic and interharmonic phasors in power networks. The proposed method is based on the Matrix Pencil Method (MPM) and Principle Component Analysis (PCA). It estimates parameters of the Prony model that represents the measured signal under noisy conditions.

Accurate phasor estimation during power swing

2016 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2016
Modulation of voltage and current signals with low-frequency components during power swing creates difficulty in accurate phasor estimation. Sequence component-based relaying principles are therefore being affected. In this paper, fundamental and modulating frequency components are incorporated in phasor estimation formulation to improve accuracy.

Micro Phasor Measurement Unit Phasor Estimation by off-Nominal Frequency

2018 IEEE International Conference on Smart Energy Grid Engineering (SEGE), 2018
Due to the high sampling rate of the power signals by Micro Phasor Measurement Units (μPMUs) tight restrictions on computing time of different algorithms are imposed. Especially when dealing with Phasor estimation by off-nominal frequency. Sampling the power signal with a frequency which is a multiple of the instantaneous power frequency is used to fix

Accurate phasor estimation for smart grid application

2016 Smart Grids Conference (SGC), 2016
One of the major issues in smart grid monitoring, protection and power quality event identification is accurate phasor estimation. Proper phasor estimation is more important especially during fault, because the signals doesn’t have pure sine wave anymore and include different harmonic components and Decaying DC offset, so Proper phasor estimation in ...

A Modified DFT-Based Phasor Estimation Algorithm Using an FIR Notch Filter

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2023
Accurate and fast extraction of the fundamental parameters of fault signals is a critical issue in the overall performance of protective relays. The decaying DC terms (DDTs) in the fault current challenge the discrete Fourier transform (DFT), the ...
