Phasor estimation considering DC component using UKF
2011 International Conference on Advanced Power System Automation and Protection, 2011Electric power quality is ability of the system to deliver electric power service in high quality so that the end use equipment will operate within its design specifications. Introducing power generation using renewable energy can increase regulations and need for reserves due to its natural intermittency.

Second Harmonic Filtering in Phasor Measurement Estimation
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2013In this letter, the application of two different techniques for improved second harmonic filtering observed in single-phase phasor measurements, under offnominal frequency operation, is presented. The main advantage of the proposed methods is that it can be readily incorporated into the existing uniform sampling and fixed window length phasor ...

Acceleration of nonparametric time-varying phasor estimation
AFRICON 2007, 2007In this paper we present an acceleration procedure for an application of a robust nonparametric signal modelling technique for tracking time-varying phasors of voltage and current in power systems. A first degree polynomial is used to approximate these voltage and current signals locally on a sliding window of fixed length.

A New Half-Cycle Phasor Estimation Algorithm
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2005Phasor estimation algorithms for protective relaying are required to filter out unwanted components from the input signals and retain only the components of interest. The components to be removed include harmonics and the decaying-exponential transient (dc offset) component. They affect the accuracy and the speed of convergence of the phasor estimation

Instantaneous dynamic phasor estimates with Kalman filter
IEEE PES General Meeting, 2010The state-transition matrix of the κ-th order Taylor approximation to the dynamic phasor and its first derivatives leads to a plurality of state-space representations to approach the bandpass signal model of a power oscillation. With these truncated signal models, the Kalman filter algorithm can be applied to their state vectors in order to find ...

Multiarea State Estimation Using Synchronized Phasor Measurements
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2005This paper investigates the problem of state estimation in very large power systems, which may contain several control areas. An estimation approach which coordinates locally obtained decentralized estimates while improving bad data processing capability at the area boundaries is presented.

Dynamic phasor estimates through maximally flat differentiators
2008 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting - Conversion and Delivery of Electrical Energy in the 21st Century, 2008Estimates of the dynamic phasor and its derivatives are obtained using the weighted least-squares solution of a Taylor approximation with classical windows as weighting factors. It is demonstrated that the least-squares solution simultaneously approximates the time function and its spectrum, and this twofold solution in turn is equivalent to the ...

Dynamic Phasor Estimates for Power System Oscillations
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2007Since its invention, the phasor has essentially been considered as a steady-state concept. Up to now, this assumption has shaped most of the algorithms for phasor estimation. This paper breaks that old paradigm by relaxing the static phasor concept to a dynamic one, i.e., the dynamic phasor, which is one complex time function with movement freedom ...

Phasor Estimation at Off-Nominal Frequency Inputs
2008Phasors are a steady state concept. In reality, a power system is never in a steady state. Voltage and current signals have constantly changing fundamental frequency (albeit in a relatively narrow range around the nominal frequency) due to changes in load and generation imbalances and due to the interactions between real power demand on the network ...
