Silane treated starch dispersed PBAT/PHBV-based composites: Improved barrier performance for single-use plastic alternatives.

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2022
The objective of this study is to include 5 wt% silane-treated starch (S-t-Starch) into biodegradable flexible poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT)/poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) blend matrix, which can facilitate superior ...

Comparative study of PHBV/TBP and PHBV/BPA blends

Polymer International, 2004
AbstractIn order to clarify the effects of phenols on properties of polyesters, the blends of poly[(3‐hydroxybutyrate)‐co‐(3‐hydroxyvalerate)] (PHBV) with 4,4′‐dihydroxydiphenylpropane (BPA) and p‐tert‐butylphenol (TBP) were studied. The FTIR spectra revealed that there was strong hydrogen‐bond (H‐bond) interaction between PHBV and both phenols.

Antibiotic Release from Biodegradable PHBV Microparticles

Journal of Controlled Release, 1998
For the treatment of periodontal diseases, design of a controlled release system seemed very appropriate for an effective, long term result. In this study a novel, biodegradable microbial polyester, poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate), PHBV of various valerate contents containing a well established antibiotic, tetracycline, known to be ...

Extrusion foaming of PHBV

Journal of Cellular Plastics, 2014
This paper reports work on extrusion foaming of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate- co-3-hydroxyvalerate) with a chemical blowing agent based on sodium bicarbonate and citric acid and calcium carbonate nucleation agent. It includes investigations in the effects of rheological behaviour of the polymer, blowing agent, nucleation agent and processing conditions on ...
