Public Health Threat of New, Reemerging, and Neglected Zoonoses in the Industrialized World [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010

CHROMOSOMES OF CHICKEN-PHEASANT HYBRIDS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales de Génétique et de Sélection Animale, 1972
a majority of the embryos carry a haploid set each of chicken and pheasant chromosomes. Three of the male embryos resulting from chicken female-pheasant male crosses were cytogenetically indistinguishable from male domestic chicken whereas two embryos obtained from a similar cross, were chimeras composed of chicken cells and hybrid cells.

Can sexual selection drive female life histories? A comparative study on Galliform birds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Sexual selection is an important driver of many of the most spectacular morphological traits that we find in the animal kingdom (for example see Andersson, 1994). As such, sexual selection is most often emphasized as

The effects of released pheasants on invertebrate populations in and around woodland release sites

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
The release of gamebirds for recreational shooting exerts a series of effects on the ecosystems into which they are placed. Pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) are omnivorous and eat invertebrates, especially when young or, if females, when breeding ...

Body conformation, carcass composition and physicochemical and sensory properties of meat from pheasants of different origin

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2012
Mongolian × Versicolor and common pheasants were investigated. Birds were kept in a confined, environmentally controlled facility without outdoor access and fed ad libitum commercial diets for slaughter pheasants. Body weight was determined at the end of
