Fungal Pathogen Activity and Stress‐Dependent Responses of Grapevine Wood to Esca and Drought

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 178, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Biotic and abiotic stresses alter the physiology of perennial plants, with consequences for fungal endophytes and disease expression. In grapevine, drought inhibits esca disease expression, but the underlying molecular interactions between the plant and fungi are unknown. We combined wood metatranscriptomics, metabolomics, and metabarcoding to

Sparassis crispa and a Bioactive Compound Therein, Ergosterol, Were Effective in Preventing Acetylcholinesterase Inhibition In Vitro and In Vivo

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Sparassis crispa extract exhibited acetylcholinesterase inhibitory and antioxidant activities, and ergosterol was identified as a major bioactive sterol. In a TMT‐induced mouse model, both the extract and ergosterol improved spatial working memory and learning retention while reducing brain AChE activity and lipid peroxidation.

Therapeutic Modulation of Inflammatory Signaling via Physalis Peruviana‐Derived Exosomes: A Targeted Effect on IKK/NFκB/STAT1

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 7, 15 April 2026.
Exosomes derived from Physalis peruviana contain various bioactive compounds, such as RNAs, proteins, and secondary metabolites. These exosomes have been shown to contain different types of carotenoids that may have therapeutic properties. Physalis peruviana exosomes are capable of exhibiting anti‐inflammatory effects by influencing the IKK/NFκB/STAT1 ...

Pseudolaric Acid B Combats Drug‐Resistant Candida albicans Infection via Dual‐Action Mechanisms of Direct Antifungals and Vaginal Microbiota Restoration

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 3, March 2026.
We propose a novel therapeutic approach against fungal infection: Pseudolaric acid B directly eradicates C. albicans via Erg11 inhibition and uniquely, restores vaginal microecological homeostasis by promoting probiotic lactobacilli, addressing both the pathogen and the dysbiotic environment.
