Synthesis of Pyrrolo[a]- and Pyrrolo[c]phenanthridine Derivatives and Indolinyl and Indolylsubstituted 6-Phenanthridines

Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, 2001
The corresponding Mannich bases have been synthesized by the aminomethylation of 6-methyl-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-a]- and 4-methyl-3H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]phenanthridinium iodides. The interaction of 6-chloro-phenanthridine with indoline and with 5-amino-N-acetylindoline gave the corresponding derivatives of phenanthridine.

Millimetre wave spectroscopy of PANHs: phenanthridine

Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2007
The pure rotational spectrum of phenanthridine (C(13)H(9)N), a small polycyclic aromatic nitrogen heterocycle (PANH), has been measured from 48 to 85 GHz employing Stark modulated millimetre wave absorption spectroscopy of a supersonic rotationally cold molecular beam.

The chemotherapy of phenanthridine compounds

Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry, 1947
AbstractAn account is given of the preparation of various phenanthridine compounds and of their use in chemotherapy. Several of the compounds are curative of bovine trypanosomiasis, an African disease transmitted by the tsetse fly, and promise to be of great value in the African colonics.
