Synthesis, Characterization, and Properties of Mononuclear and Dinuclear Ruthenium(II) Complexes Containing Phenanthroline and Chlorophenanthroline [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The study of photophysical and photochemical properties of ruthenium complexes is of great interest for fundamental practical reasons. Ruthenium complexes have been investigated for use in artificial photosynthesis.

New oligothienyl-imidazo-phenanthroline chromophores for NLO applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A new series of oligothienyl-imidazo-phenanthrolines 3 were synthesised in good to excellent yields by condensation of 5,6-phenantroline-dione 2 with formyl-thiophene derivatives 1 in the presence of ammonium acetate in glacial acetic acid.

Directed assembly via selectively positioned host functionality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Introduction of distal carboxylic acid groups over two positions at the upper-rim of a di-O-alkylcalix[4]arene provides facile control over coordination polymer or discrete metal-organic capsule formation.

Synthesis, characterization, photophysical studies and interaction with DNA of a new family Ru(II) Furyl- and Thienyl-imidazo-phenanthroline polypyridyl complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A new family of Ru(II) polypyridyl complexes (C1 to C6) containing furyl- or thienyl-imidazo-phenanthroline ligands (4-6) were synthesized using microwave irradiation and characterized by elemental analysis, 1H-NMR, UV-vis absorption and fluorescence ...

Tertiary Alcohols as Radical Precursors for the Introduction of Tertiary Substituents into Heteroarenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Despite many recent advances in the radical alkylation of electron-deficient heteroarenes since the seminal reports by Minisci and co-workers, methods for the direct incorporation of tertiary alkyl substituents into nitrogen heteroarenes are limited ...

Iridium-Catalyzed Silylation of C-H Bonds in Unactivated Arenes: A Sterically Encumbered Phenanthroline Ligand Accelerates Catalysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We report a new system for the silylation of aryl C-H bonds. The combination of [Ir(cod)(OMe)]2 and 2,9-Me2-phenanthroline (2,9-Me2-phen) catalyzes the silylation of arenes at lower temperatures and with faster rates than those reported previously, when ...

4,7-Phenanthroline

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2001
The structure of 4,7-phenanthroline, C12H8N2, has been determined at 180 K. The molecular unit possesses pseudo-C2v point symmetry but does not possess crystallographic mirror symmetry. The molecules form stacks approximately along the b direction, with molecules in adjacent stacks forming an interplane angle of ca 54°.
