Screening for candidate bacterial biocontrol agents against soilborne fungal plant pathogens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Over the years, many bacterial isolates have been evaluated as potential biocontrol agents against soilborne fungal phytopathogens. However, few of them were ultimately successful after evaluation in field trials.

Evolutionary patchwork of an insecticidal toxin shared between plant-associated pseudomonads and the insect pathogens Photorhabdus and Xenorhabdus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Root-colonizing fluorescent pseudomonads are known for their excellent abilities to protect plants against soil-borne fungal pathogens. Some of these bacteria produce an insecticidal toxin (Fit) suggesting that they may exploit insect hosts ...

From iron oxides to infections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
I was fortunate to have met Terry Beveridge early during my time in graduate school, when my advisor, Francois Morel (a geochemist), recognized the importance of my having a microbiologist on my PhD advising committee.

Antileukemic Activity of 1-Oxyphenazine Produced by Pseudomonas Aureofaciens Phz 127/11

open access: yesInternational Journal of Secondary Metabolite, 2014
It`s known that some phenazines antibiotics possess an antitumor activity. For example bis(phenazine-1-carboxamide) inhibits a panel of tumor cell lines including P388 leukemia, Lewis lung carcinoma and human Jurkat leukemia; XR5944 – phenazine compound –

Differential regulation of the phenazine biosynthetic operons by quorum sensing in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1-N [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Pseudomonas aeruginosa quorum sensing (QS) network plays a key role in the adaptation to environmental changes and the control of virulence factor production in this opportunistic human pathogen. Three interlinked QS systems, namely las, rhl, and pqs,

Deuteration of Six‐Membered N‐Heteroarenes: Chemistry and Applications

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 67, December 1, 2025.
Deuterated six‐membered N‐Heteroarenes (6NHetAr) are finding utility in an increasing repertoire of applications. Our paper comprehensively reviews synthetic approaches that have been reported for the deuteration of 6NHetAr and their fused counterparts while providing an overview of established and emerging applications for these materials.

Transition Metal‐Free Ortho‐Deuteration of Electron‐Deficient N‐Heteroarenes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 42, November 20, 2025.
Herin, the metal‐free, selective deuteration of electron‐deficient N‐heteroaromatics is reported using O‐carbamate and carboxamide ortho‐directing groups (DGs), lithium 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidide as the base, and D2O as a green source of D+. The substrate scope includes 10 small molecule N‐heteroaromatic compounds and two pharmaceutically relevant ...

Biocontrol of Avocado Dematophora Root Rot by Antagonistic Pseudomonas fluorescens PCL1606 Correlates With the Production of 2-Hexyl 5-Propyl Resorcinol

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2006
A collection of 905 bacterial isolates from the rhizospheres of healthy avocado trees was obtained and screened for antagonistic activity against Dematophora necatrix, the cause of avocado Dematophora root rot (also called white root rot). A set of eight

Phenazines Synthesis by Palladium‐Catalyzed Reductive Cyclization of 2‐Nitro‐N‐Phenylanilines Using Gaseous CO or Its Surrogates

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2025.
A practical palladium (Pd)‐catalyzed approach enables the synthesis of phenazines by reductive cyclization of 2‐nitro‐N‐phenylanilines using either carbon monoxide (CO) gas or phenyl formate as an in situ CO source. The method avoids harsh reagents and minimizes byproducts.
