An Analysis of Numerical Phenetics
AbstractThe methodical variants of numerical phenetics, as recently summarized by Sneath and Sokal (1973) are analysed concerning their theoretical bases and practical procedures with special reference to their claims of "objectivity", "repeatability" and production of "stable groups".

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 1991
A paper byWilson & al. (1990) on the taxonomy ofFumaria is commented upon. It is concluded that the lack of congruence between the authors' results and evidence from morphology, chemistry, and crossing experiments renders their approach questionable.

Evolutionary Phenetics and Genetics
The advent of analysis of allozyme variation within natural populations has touched off a veritable revolution of our knowledge of evolutionary genetics. Many organisms that could not be bred in the laboratory or that exhibit no obvious polymorphism have yielded important insights into the genetic structure of natural populations.
