O2 -mediated dehydrogenative amination of phenols.
Angewandte Chemie, 2015A method was developed for the direct dehydrogenative construction of CN bonds between unprotected phenols and a series of cyclic anilines without resorting to any kind of metal activation of either substrate and without the use of halides.

Catalytic ethoxylation of phenol and phenol derivatives
Reaction Kinetics and Catalysis Letters, 1980The kinetics of catalytic mono- and polyethoxylation of phenol, p-cumyl-phenol and p-isooctylphenol have been studied in the presence of strongly basic anion exchanger Wofatit SBW in hydroxy form. The influence of substituents on the rate has been investigated and the mechanism of the reaction is discussed.

Kinetics of Ozonation of Phenol and Substituted Phenols
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2019In the treatment of wastewaters contaminated with phenol and substituted phenols, an intermediate chemical step of partial oxidation is often employed to facilitate the ensuing biodegradation process. Ozonation is a candidate technique for partial oxidation of phenolics.

Oxidative Cross-Coupling of Two Different Phenols: An Efficient Route to Unsymmetrical Biphenols.
Organic Letters, 2015An efficient synthesis of unsymmetrical biphenols via the oxidative cross-coupling of two different phenols in the presence of K2S2O8 and Bu4N(+)·HSO3(-) (10 mol %) in CF3COOH at ambient conditions is described.

BIODEGRADATION OF PHENOLS BY MICROALGAE
Biotechnology Letters, 2002Two green microalgae, Ankistrodesmus braunii and Scenedesmus quadricauda, degraded phenols (each tested at 400 mg ml−1) selected from olive-oil mill wastewaters, within 5 days, with a removal greater than 70%. Green algae may, therefore, represent an alternative to other biological treatment used for the biodegradation of phenol-containing wastewaters.

In this study, it was, interestingly, found that 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6-sulfonate (ABTS), a widely used electron shuttle, could greatly accelerate the oxidation of substituted phenols by potassium permanganate (Mn(VII)) in aqueous ...

The metabolism of phenol and substituted phenols in zebra fish
Xenobiotica, 19871. The metabolism of five phenols in zebra fish was studied after uptake from the medium. The results showed no qualitative differences to other Cyprinid fish species, only the oxidation rate seemed to be lower. 2. Phenyl glucuronide, phenyl sulphate, and quinol sulphate were identified as metabolites of phenol. 3.

An unprecedented direct C-H bond functionalization of unprotected phenols with α-aryl α-diazoacetates and diazooxindoles was developed. A tris(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphite derived gold complex promoted the highly chemoselective and site-selective C-

The direct functionalization of phenols at the ortho and para position is generally facilitated by the electron-donating nature of the hydroxyl group. Accessing meta-functionalized phenols from the parent phenols, on the other hand, generally requires ...
