Missing Shapiro steps in topologically trivial Josephson junction on InAs quantum well

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Recent observations of missing odd Shapiro steps have been interpreted in the context of topological superconductivity. Here, the authors observe missing odd Shapiro steps in topologically trivial Josephson junctions due to high transparency of the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Thermodiffusion phenomena [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2011
The aim of this article is to present briefly a summary of the state of art in theoretical, experimental and numerical approaches in thermodiffusion. The concepts and equations giving the mass flux of constituents in binary, ternary and multicomponent mixtures are presented.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Implementation of reflective model of educational practice in the modern Finnish school

open access: yesОсвітній вимір, 2020
The article considers the example of a country whose educational system has absorbed the ideas of philosophical concepts of critical thinking of I. Kant and M. Lipman. After all, thanks to the dynamic integration processes in the world, we pay attention

Simulation of steady-state and transient loss of cooling accident of a channel in a reactor plate-type fuel element

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, 2023
The suitable cooling of fuel elements in a nuclear reactor is an important requirement that must be met to avoid that the fuel temperature rises above the safety limits according to the reactor design.

Phenomena in dermatology

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprology, 2011
For a better understanding of various dermatoses, it is imperative for any physician practising dermatology to have a good theoretical knowledge of the underlying pathophysiologic processes involved in various systemic diseases involving the skin. For an easy grasp over this topic, we have discussed the various phenomena under three broad categories ...
