Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Inter-association and path coefficient analysis for yield and yield attributing traits in ash gourd [Benincasa hispida (Thunb) Cogn.]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding
Twenty nine genotypes of ash gourd (land races and released varieties) were evaluated during summer season (March to July) of 2022 and 2023. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the inter-associations among 15 yield and yield attributing ...

Standard heterosis and phenotypic correlation studies on yield contributing traits and quality parameters in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2023
Hybrids show better performance than varieties in terms of yield and quality. Heterosis breeding provides a way to develop hybrids to uplift yield and quality.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

RESEARCH REGARDING THE EXISTENCE OF A PHENOTYPIC CORRELATION BETWEEN STERN LENGTH AND THE ARRIVAL TIME AT GROSSE-FOND PIGEON STOCK JAN AARDEN

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
Specialty literature is presenting few data about the estimation of the phenotypic correlations at voyager pigeon. The present study is aiming to present a classic and simple method, accessible to any pigeon ameliorator.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
