Bis-Benzimidazole Diamide Iron(III) Complexes as Mimics of Phenoxazinone Synthase

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2012
Abstract New Bis Benzimidazole diamide ligands-N,N′-Bis(2-Methylbenzimidazolyl) pyridinediamide [GBPA = L1] and N-Picolylated-N,N′-Bis(2-Methylbenzimidazolyl) hexandiamide [Pic-GBHA = L2] have been synthesized and utilized to prepare Fe(III) complexes. The X-ray structure of the ligand L2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n.

Phenoxazinone Synthase-like Activity of Rationally Designed Heme Enzymes Based on Myoglobin

Biochemistry, 2021
The design of functional metalloenzymes is attractive for the biosynthesis of biologically important compounds, such as phenoxazinones and phenazines catalyzed by native phenoxazinone synthase (PHS). To design functional heme enzymes, we used myoglobin (Mb) as a model protein and introduced an artificial CXXC motif into the heme distal pocket by F46C ...

Catechol Oxidase and Phenoxazinone Synthase: Biomimetic Functional Models and Mechanistic Studies

Coordination Chemistry Reviews, 2016
Abstract The impetus to modeling of enzyme active sites comes from their potential to provide insight to the mechanistic pathways of the native enzymes, establish the role of that particular metal in the active site and to design better catalysts inspired by nature.

Phenoxazinone synthase: mechanism for the formation of the phenoxazinone chromophore of actinomycin

Biochemistry, 1989
Phenoxazinone synthase is a copper-containing oxidase that catalyzes the coupling of 2-aminophenols to form the 2-aminophenoxazinone chromophore. This reaction constitutes the final step in the biosynthesis of the potent antineoplastic agent actinomycin. The mechanism of this complex 6-electron oxidation was determined by using a variety of substituted
