Synthesis and degradation of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase of Rhodosporidium toruloides [PDF]
The regulation of the enzyme phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL), which is of potential use in oral treatment of phenylketonuria, was investigated. Antiserum against PAL was prepared and was shown to be monospecific for the enzyme by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

IMMOBILIZATION OF PHENYLALANINE AMMONIA-LYASE ON HYDROXYAPATITE AND HYDROXYAPATITE COMPOSITES
A new and efficient immobilization method of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase was obtained using hydroxyapatite (HAP) and hydroxyapatite - carbon nanotube, gelatin and chitosan - composites (HAP-CNT, HAP-GEL and HAP-CS) as support material.

Fluorescent enzyme-coupled activity assay for phenylalanine ammonia-lyases [PDF]
AbstractPhenylalanine ammonia-lyases (PALs) catalyse the non-oxidative deamination of l-phenylalanine to trans-cinnamic acid, while in the presence of high ammonia concentration the reverse reaction occurs. PALs have been intensively studied, however, their industrial applications for amino acids synthesis remained limited, mainly due to their ...

SP3 and DEP1 Orchestrate Panicle Architecture by Jointly Regulating APO2 Expression in Rice
The transcription factor SP3 enhances inflorescence meristem activity and interacts with the cysteine‐rich domain of DEP1. This interaction alters DEP1's subcellular localization between the plasma membrane and nucleus, and suppresses SP3‐mediated transcriptional activation of APO2.

In Vivo Biosynthesis and Direct Incorporation of Noncanonical Amino Acids into Proteins
This review evaluates engineered (semi)autonomous cell systems for the biosynthesis and incorporation of noncanonical amino acids (ncAAs) into proteins. While semi‐autonomous cells convert supplied precursors into ncAAs autonomous cells integrate biosynthetic pathways that produce these building blocks intracellularly.

Abstract Although inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) are a rare cause of epilepsy, seizures are a common presentation in these disorders. Seizures in IEM are frequently refractory to conventional anti‐seizure medication and might warrant initiation of specific treatments based on vitamins or dietary modifications or provision of alternative substrates ...

Stepwise Simulation of 3,5-Dihydro-5-methylidene-4H-imidazol-4-one (MIO) Biogenesis in Histidine Ammonia-lyase [PDF]
A 3,5-dihydro-5-methylidene-4H-imidazol-4-one (MIO) electrophilic moiety is post-translationally and autocatalytically generated in homotetrameric histidine ammonia-lyase (HAL) and other enzymes containing the tripeptide Ala-Ser-Gly in a suitably ...
