Thirteen aromatic oxygen and thioic S,S'-diesters were synthesized and investigated using electrochemical (cyclic voltammetry and controlled potential electrolysis) and UV-vis spectroscopic techniques over a range of temperatures.

Synthesis and Optical Properties of Diboron Complexes of 1,4‐Anthraquinone Derivatives
1,4‐Diboron complexes exhibit near‐infrared fluorescence, in contrast to non‐emissive 1,5‐diboron analogues. Fluorescence quantum yields decrease with increasing electron‐donating substituents, attributed to enhanced nonradiative decay via intramolecular PeT.

The herein‐developed tyrosinase model complex enables the transfer of tyrosinase‐like catalytic oxygenation activity into artificial systems. Therefore, it enables the use of molecular oxygen for oxygenation and oxidation of phenolic substrates at room temperature.
