Nationwide distribution, transformation, and risks of p-Phenylenediamines and their quinone transformation products in Chinese agricultural soils

open access: yesEnvironment International
p-Phenylenediamines (PPDs) are widely used as antioxidants in tire formulations and are released to the environment via tire wear, where they can be transformed into more toxic p-phenylenediamine-derived quinones (PPD-Qs).

Machine Learning‐Guided Near‐Infrared Laser Processing for Precise Geometry Control in Microneedles with Downstream microLED‐Triggered Photothermal Functionality

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Machine learning‐guided near‐infrared laser processing enables predictive fabrication of microneedles with application‐specific geometries. The optimized metal templates are translated into polymeric microneedles and integrated with a flexible microLED platform.

Nationwide occurrence and prioritization of tire additives and their transformation products in lake sediments of China

open access: yesEnvironment International
As a group of emerging contaminants of global concern, tire additives and their transformation products (TATPs) are causing a severe threat to aquatic ecosystems, particularly the highly lethal effects of N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N’-phenyl-p ...

Heavy‐Metal‐Free Colloidal Quantum Dots for Photocatalysis

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Heavy‐metal‐free colloidal quantum dots provide sustainable photocatalytic platforms by combining tunable band structures, strong light absorption, and programmable surfaces/interfaces. This Review highlights how core/shell engineering, alloying, defect regulation, ligand design, and hybrid‐interface construction direct charge separation and ...

Unraveling the effect of topological structures of B/N‐doped conjugated macrocycles on spectral properties: A computational study

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
Herein, we constructed a series of fully B‐doped, fully N‐doped and hybrid B/N‐doped conjugated macrocycles considering three key topological factors. At a fixed ring size, the spectra initially redshift then blueshift with varying B/N ratio, while ring size exhibits negligible impact on spectra.

Patterns, variability, and predictors of p-phenylenediamine quinones and parent p-phenylenediamines in pregnant women across three trimesters

open access: yesEnvironment International
p-Phenylenediamine quinones (PPD-Qs), oxidative derivatives of rubber antioxidant p-phenylenediamines (PPDs), have garnered increasing concern due to their environmental ubiquity and toxicity.

Contact Allergens Relevant to LGBTQI Populations: A Narrative Review and Practical Considerations

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a common inflammatory skin disorder with significant morbidity across populations. Sexual and gender minority (SGM) individuals, including LGBTQI populations, are exposed to unique allergens due to gender‐affirming medical therapies, surgical interventions, cosmetics and grooming practices, sexual health ...

Mapping of C5‐Blocking Monoclonal Antibodies Reveals New C5 Inhibitory Epitopes and Novel Modes of C5 Inhibition

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
We identify four distinct C5 inhibitory epitopes, including two novel antibodies that selectively block membrane attack complex (MAC) assembly while preserving C5 cleavage and C5a generation. These findings establish selective MAC inhibition as a new therapeutic strategy for complement‐mediated diseases.
