Overproduction of 42 Amino Acids Long Amyloid Beta Leads to Activation of Secretory Autophagy and Development of Drusen‐Like Structures Originating From Retinal Pigment Epithelium

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 5, 15 March 2026.
The role of 42 amino acids long amyloid beta (Aβ) in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) was investigated using 5xFAD mice model overproducing Aβ. The RPE cells of 5xFAD mice showed increased oxidative stress, accumulation of autophagy‐destined proteins, increased expression of secretory autophagy markers, and increase in epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal ...

An alternative synthesis of (±)-phenylephrine hydrochloride [PDF]

open access: yesMaejo International Journal of Science and Technology, 2014
This study presents alternative synthetic pathways and reagents for the preparation of racemic phenylephrine hydrochloride. Using m-hydroxybenzaldehyde as starting material, two separate pathways–epoxidation and bromohydrin formation–are

Evaluation of Cerebral Blood Flow and Cerebral Autoregulation Using Synthetic Data and In Silico Modeling

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study uses simulations and synthetic data to reassess static cerebral autoregulation. Results show cerebral blood flow is strongly influenced by systemic arteriolar resistance and arterial CO2, while mean arterial pressure has a significant but weak effect.

Murine Biocompatibility Evaluation of an Albumin‐Derived Complex and Nanoparticle Delivery System for Ocular Applications

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, Volume 114, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Age‐related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of irreversible vision loss in the aging population, with no curative treatment currently available. Current therapies primarily target late‐stage symptoms and are limited by their frequent and invasive intravitreal (IVT) injections.

Anesthesia Practices for Preterm Infants: A Survey in the Nordic Countries and Review of the Literature

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Preterm infants are at increased risk of perioperative mortality and are among the most vulnerable patients anesthesiologists can encounter. The literature on anesthesia practice in preterm infants is limited, mainly focusing on their physiological immaturity and related pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics.

Vasopressor Use in Acute Burn Resuscitation: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Vasopressors are often introduced in severe burn patients who respond poorly to fluid resuscitation to maintain adequate blood pressure and avoid fluid creep. This study aims to characterise these patients and explore potential correlations between vasopressor use and patient outcomes.
