The Phenylephrine Test Revisited.
Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 2017PURPOSE To characterize the phenylephrine test in ptotic patients to help clinicians perform the test more efficiently. METHODS Adults with involutional ptosis (n = 24, 30 eyes) were assessed with digital photographs for response to topical 2.5 ...

Ocular absorption and disposition of phenylephrine and phenylephrine oxazolidine
Biopharmaceutics & Drug Disposition, 1988AbstractThe ocular bioavailability of phenylephrine oxazolidine (PO), a prodrug intended for rapid corneal penetration, was micronized and suspended in sesame oil (1 and 10 per cent) and compared in bioavailability to phenylephrine HCl (PE) dissolved (10 per cent) in a buffered (pH 5.75), viscous (30 centipoise) vehicle. Cornea and aqueous humor of New

Effect of Phenylephrine on Accommodation
Optometry and Vision Science, 1986We studied the effect of the topical instillation of phenylephrine hydrochloride on accommodation. Factors considered were iris color and the influence of the prior application of a topical anesthetic. There has been controversy concerning the role of the sympathetic nervous system in accommodation.

Potentiometric sensor for phenylephrine based on phenylephrine-tetraphenylborate lipophilic salt [PDF]
Phenylephrine (PE) ion-selective electrode based on incorporation of phenylephrine-tetraphenylborate lipophilic salt in plasticized PVC matrices is constructed. The electrode shows near Nernstian response over the concentration range 1.5 × 10−4-10−1 M in solutions of pH 2.9–8.0 at 25°C.

Is Phenylephrine Pivalate a Prodrug?
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1980Phenylephrine pivalate has been assumed to be a prodrug devoid of important intrinsic activity because of its structural similarity to dipivefrin (dipivaly epinephrine). However, unlike dipivefrin, the pharmacologic activity of phenylephrine pivalate was not prevented by prior administration of echothiophate iodide.
