Allergic Blepharoconjunctivitis Due to Phenylephrine
Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1988Acute allergic blepharoconjunctivitis with mucopurulent discharge due to phenylephrine eye drops is reported. The reaction begins 3-4 hours after drug application, persists for 12 hours and regresses gradually within 72 hours. This clinical picture occurs with a phenylephrine concentration as low as 0.1%.

Allergic Dermatoconjunctivitis Caused By Phenylephrine
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1983Severe bulbar and palpebral conjunctivitis and periorbital dermatitis developed in two of our patients who used phenylephrine hydrochloride eyedrops. The allergic agent was identified as phenylephrine. To the best of our knowledge, a positive patch test to pure 10% phenylephrine in water by Mathias and associates 1 is the only report of allergy to ...

Improving the ocular absorption of phenylephrine
Biopharmaceutics & Drug Disposition, 1986AbstractAn oxazolidine prodrug of phenylephrine and the base form of phenylephrine were synthesized, suspended in sesame oil, and tested for mydriatic activity against phenylephrine HCL. The HCL salt was formulated as a viscous aqueous solution and as a sesame oil suspension.

Treatment of Pharmacological Priapism with Phenylephrine
Journal of Urology, 1991Pharmacological prolonged erections or priapism due to anesthesia were treated in 36 patients with intracorporeal injections of phenylephrine. Detumescence was obtained rapidly in every case and no marked side effect was reported. Considering the possible toxicity of other adrenergic agents, phenylephrine is strongly recommended in the treatment of ...

Spectrophotometric determination of phenylephrine
Microchemical Journal, 1973Abstract This paper describes a spectrophotometric assay procedure for the determination of small amounts of phenylephrine in the presence of a variety of foreign substances including ascorbic acid. This method is based on the formation of a blue colored indophenol derivative from the reaction of phenylephrine with N ,2,6-trichloro- p ...

The Use of Phenylephrine in Eyelid Cryosurgery
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1979To the Editor. —During the past two years we have performed cryosurgery on more than 250 eyelids for aberrant lashes. Many of these eyelids have required ablation of all lashes. Most of these cases result from the trichiasis or acquired distichiasis that can occur in cases of ocular pemphigoid, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, chronic miotic therapy, or ...

Pharmacokinetics of3H-phenylephrine in man
European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 19827-3H-phenylephrine was given to 15 volunteers by a short-infusion n = 4) or p.o. (10 volunteers, 1 patient with porto-caval anastomosis). Analysis of serum for free 3H-phenylephrine and fractionation of urinary radioactivity was performed by ion-exchange and thin-layer chromatography. As almost the same 3H-activity was excreted in urine after i.v.
