Novel Sulfonium Reagents for the Modular Synthesis of Spiro[2.3]Hexanes and Heteroatom-Containing Analogues: Synthesis, Application, and Evaluation as Bioisosteres. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
Strained spirocyclic spiro[2.3]hexane and its heteroatom‐containing derivatives, including previously underrepresented 5‐oxa‐1‐azaspiro[2.3]hexanes and 1,5‐diazaspiro[2.3]hexanes, were synthesized via a modular approach of insertion of cyclobutane‐, oxetane‐, and azetidine‐containing sulfonium reagents into alkenes, carbonyls and imines.

Boosting the Nucleophilicity of the Diphenylphosphide Anion with Crown Ether Supported Heavy Alkali Metals to Facilitate Highly Efficient Catalytic Alkene Isomerisation. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
Here, we report a breakthrough study in catalytic alkene isomerisation using crown ether‐supported alkali metal phosphides in which the activity increases sequentially and significantly as Group One is descended with Cs(18‐crown‐6)PPh2 (1Cs) performing best.

Plasmonic Catalysis for Controlling Selectivity in the Hydrogenation of Cinnamaldehyde to Propylbenzene Under Visible-Light Irradiation. [PDF]

open access: yesChemSusChem
A plasmonic Au@Au3Pd catalyst that integrates visible‐light‐driven hot electron generation with bimetallic electronic tuning to steer the selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde toward propylbenzene is reported. Localized surface plasmon resonance excitation modulates reaction pathways on tailored Au–Pd interfaces, enabling product selectivity under ...

Preparation, Encapsulation, and Performance Evaluation of Ternary Phase Change Materials for Building Envelope

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2022
Background. In order to make up for the defect that a single phase change material cannot meet the phase change temperature in a specific application field, three kinds of materials with higher phase change temperature are selected in this paper. Through

Antibacterial Activity of Estragole From Ocimum tenuiflorum, and Tagetes lucida and Synergistic Effect With Meropenem and Tobramycin Against Multidrug- and Extensively Drug-Resistant (MDR-XDR) Gram-Negative Bacteria. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiologyopen
This study reveals estragole's bactericidal activity against MDR/XDR Gram‐negative pathogens. Synergy with meropenem and tobramycin was observed in > 88% of strains, reducing antibiotic MICs up to 16‐fold. Estragole represents a promising therapeutic adjuvant to enhance antibiotic efficacy and combat antimicrobial resistance.

Water-Catalytic Deconstructive and Proton Transfer Cyclopropanation of Sulfoxonium Ylide with Olefin. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Water‐catalytic deconstructive and proton transfer cyclopropanation of sulfoxonium ylide with olefin is developed through a sequential water‐mediated ring‐closing/opening reaction. This atom‐economical, environmentally friendly methodology offers easy access to a range of cyclopropyl ketones with moderate to good yields.

Isoeugenol has a non-Disruptive Detergent-like Mechanism of Action

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
Isoeugenol is an essential oil constituent of nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. Despite isoeugenol’s promising antimicrobial activity, no studies have yet investigated its mode of antibacterial action at the molecular level.
