Insects use olfactory cues to locate hosts and mates. Pheromones and other semiochemicals are transported in the insect antenna by odorant-binding proteins (OBPs), which ferry the signals across the sensillum lymph to the olfactory receptors (ORs).

A New Experimental Setup to Study the Olfactory Behaviour of Trichogramma Egg Parasitoids
We developed an experimental setup to assess odor‐induced egg‐laying behavior in tiny egg‐parasitoid wasps. This Y‐shaped olfactometer, coupled with an AI‐based image‐recognition model, automatically quantifies egg parasitism by Trichogramma wasps. Olfactory‐driven egg‐laying preferences were analyzed using Bayesian inference.

Structure, ratios and patterns of release in the sex pheromone of an aphid, Dysaphis plantaginea
Insect communication is primarily via chemicals. InAphidinae aphids, the structure and ratio of iridoid(monoterpenoid) chemicals are known to be importantcomponents of the sex pheromone.

We assessed attraction of eight elaterid species to a “generic” pheromone blend containing their eight known pheromones or sex attractants. All eight species were attracted by their specific attractants, as expected. Six species were attracted to the blend, but the remaining two species were strongly inhibited by unknown blend components.

Landscape and Geography Determine Saproxylic Beetle Captures in Pheromone‐Baited Traps
Pheromone‐baited traps at 39 forest sites across southern Sweden captured 58 saproxylic beetle species, including seven Red‐listed taxa. The effect of surrounding forest cover on beetle abundance may depend on latitude and longitude: positive effects were strongest in warmer southern and eastern regions but weakened or reversed in colder northwestern ...

An oviposition attractant pheromone in culex-quinquefasciatus say (diptera, culicidae)
Gravid females of Culex quinquefasciatus Say from a laboratory strain originating in Nigeria orientated to a source of the main volatile pheromone component, erythro-6-acetoxy-5-hexadecanolide, isolated from the apical droplets of the egg rafts ...

This study investigates the laboratory biology and morphology of the parasitoid Trichopria drosophilae, which targets Drosophila flies, including the invasive Drosophila suzukii. Key findings include a detailed description of the parasitoid's egg, three larval instars, and pupal stage, as well as unique behaviors such as siblicide and encapsulation in ...

Derivatives produced by 1,4‐cycloaddition reactions between acetylenecarboxylic acid esters and the aphid alarm pheromone, (E)‐β‐farnesene, and analogues in which other features of the pheromone molecule were modified, were tested for activity against ...
