We assess the effect of sanitation felling performed in 2022 in North‐Eastern Italy on bark beetle damage that occurred in 2023 across eight spruce forest types, as evaluated using multispectral satellite imagery. Bark beetle damage was reduced only at very high or very low sanitation felling rates.

The presence of non-target lepidopteran species in pheromone traps for fruit tortricid moths
In the localities Brno-Tuřany (Brno-město) and Prakšice (Uherské Hradiště) pheromone traps were used to monitor tortricid moths Adoxophyes orana, Archips podanus, A. rosanus, Hedya nubiferana, Pandemis heparana, Spilonota ocellana, Cydia pomonella, Cydia

Reverse chemical ecology approach for the identification of an oviposition attractant for Culex quinquefasciatus. [PDF]
Pheromones and other semiochemicals play a crucial role in today's integrated pest and vector management strategies. These semiochemicals are typically discovered by bioassay-guided approaches.

EFFECTS OF SPACING AND TRAP NUMBER ON INTERACTIONS BETWEEN PEA MOTH PHEROMONE TRAPS
The effects of spacing and trap number on interactions between pheromone traps for the pea moth, Cydia nigricana, placed in lines along the wind were investigated. In pairs of traps, each containing 100μg (E,E)—8,10— dodecadien—1—yl acetate, an interaction was evident at spacings of 25–200 m, and the upwind trap usually caught more moths than the ...

This study was designed to understand the association between reproductive endosymbiotic bacteria and wild and laboratory‐reared Tuta absoluta populations. The majority of T. absoluta populations showed Wolbachia presence at varying levels of infection, whereas Arsenophonus, Cardinium, and Spiroplasma were not detected. Wolbachia‐positive T.

Selectivity and efficiency: evaluation of synthetic Grapholita molesta sexual pheromones
The effectiveness of pheromone lures for Grapholita molesta (Busck 1916) from Propher (Czech Republic) and Pherobank (Netherlands), the attractiveness of green and transparent pheromone traps and the representation of non-target species were evaluated in

Resource Availability Overrides Predator Presence in Mosquito Oviposition Habitat Selection
Gravid Culex quinquefasciatus balance predation risk against resource availability when selecting oviposition sites. In outdoor mesocosms, we factorially manipulated sugarcane jaggery (resource) and notonectid predators (adult vs. nymph; caged vs. free‐swimming) across 2 years.
