Modeling the Dynamics of Phlebotomine Sand Fly Population

Proceedings of the 2018 1st International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics, 2018
The present study aimed at estimating the size of phlebotomine sand fly population, the vector of leishmaniases, and to gauge the impact of temperature on the size of this population. To this end, a deterministic model describing the dynamics of the phlebotomine sand fly population is presented. The global stability of the sand fly free equilibrium and

Infection of phlebotomine sandflies with Leishmania

1997
Species of sandflies that are capable of transmitting leishmaniasis are found in two genera: Lutzomyia and Phlebotomus. Only the females blood-feed and transmit disease via their bite, Lutzomyia species in the Americas, and Phlebotomus spp. elsewhere.

A brief survey of phlebotomine sandflies in Thailand.

The Southeast Asian journal of tropical medicine and public health, 1990
Sandflies were found in widely scattered localities in Thailand in varied numbers. Daytime resting places for the adults included caves, termite hills, abandoned houses, ancient stone sanctuaries, air-raid shelters, tree hollows, loose bark of dead standing trees and rock crevices. Of fifteen species, P. major major, P. teshi, S. anodontis, S.
