A standard blood bank donation improves cardiometabolic health of donors: A double‐blind randomised controlled trial

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
The upper panel illustrates the study design, including recruitment, randomisation, intervention and oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTTs) conducted 2 weeks before and after. The lower panel shows reductions in serum ferritin associated with lower 2‐h OGTT glucose and lower glucose area under the curve (AUC).

Expanding Access to Genome Sequencing: Higher Diagnostic Yield in Self‐Referred Participants From the CincyKidsSeq Study and Implications for Hybrid Models of Genetic Service Delivery

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Genome sequencing helped find answers for 1 in 5 children with rare conditions in an outpatient study looking at hybrid genetic care delivery. Families who chose testing themselves had the highest diagnostic yield, showing that self‐referral may be a helpful way to improve access to genetic care.

Effect of phlebotomy versus oral contraceptives containing cyproterone acetate on the clinical and biochemical parameters in women with polycystic ovary syndrome: a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Ovarian Research, 2019
Background Reduction of the body iron stores can improve hyperandrogenemia and insulin resistance. This study aimed to compare clinical and para-clinical responses to the treatment of phlebotomy using oral contraceptive pills (OCs) containing cyproterone
