The Phonon Entropy of Transition Metals and Alloys: Effects of Impurities and of a Martensitic Phase Transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
For a fixed configuration of ions on a given crystalline lattice, low energy excitations around the static average configuration can be thermally activated and will contribute to the entropy of the system.

Phonon engineering with superlattices: Generalized nanomechanical potentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
International audiencePhonons are a promising simulation platform for single particles trapped in quantum wells, interatomic molecular dynamics, and, in general, potentials. Earlier implementations to simulate coherent wave propagation in one-dimensional

Thermalization in simple metals: Role of electron-phonon and phonon-phonon scattering [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2018
We study the electron and phonon thermalization in simple metals excited by a laser pulse. The thermalization is investigated numerically by solving the Boltzmann transport equation taking into account all the relevant scattering mechanism: the electron-electron, electron-phonon (e-ph), phonon-electron (ph-e), and phonon-phonon (ph-ph) scatterings.

phonon-polariton-GaN.nb from Analytical results regarding electrostatic resonances of surface phonon/plasmon polaritons: separation of variables with a twist [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The boundary integral equation (BIE) method ascertains explicit relations between localized surface phonon and plasmon polariton resonances and the eigenvalues of its associated electrostatic operator.

Beta-decay and structure of odd nuclei, suppression of weak forces in nuclei

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2019
Results of calculations in the framework of the dynamic collective model of probabilities of beta-transitions for more than 20 nuclei with mass numbers from А = 31 to А = 231 with one universal renormalization of weak interaction constants are presented.

Study for quartz resonators in miniature metal-ceramic package for further use in temperature-compensated oscillators

open access: yesОмский научный вестник
With the advent of new technologies, the requirements for the sources of reference vibrations are becoming more stringent. They must be compact, quickly reach frequency, operate in a wide temperature range and have a small relative frequency drift in the

Direct observation of confined acoustic phonon polarization branches in free-standing semiconductor nanowires

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
In nanostructures, phonon confinement could lead to better control of phonon-electron coupling and thermal properties. Here, the authors use light scattering spectroscopy to measure acoustic phonons confinement in individual free-standing nanowires ...

Uniform Strain-Dependent Thermal Conductivity of Pentagonal and Hexagonal Silicene

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2021
Two-dimensional (2D) pentagonal monolayer structures have shown promising characteristics and fascinating physical and chemical properties. The disparate strain-dependent thermal conductivity of two-dimensional penta-structures was reported, but the ...
