Effects of High Flavanol Dark Chocolate on Cardiovascular Function and Platelet Aggregation. [PDF]
Regular consumption of chocolate and cocoa products has been linked to reduced cardiovascular mortality. This study compared the effects of high flavanol dark chocolate (HFDC; 1064mg flavanols/day for 6 weeks) and low flavanol dark chocolate (LFDC; 88mg ...

Epigenetic Changes Related to Hypertension in Asian Adults: A Systematic Review
PRISMA study flow diagram. ABSTRACT Background Elevated high blood pressure is controlled by complicated, little‐understood genetic and epigenetic pathways that are influenced by both heritable and environmental variables. Many adult systolic and diastolic blood pressure‐related genomic loci have been identified through previous genome‐wide association

In situ activity gel for DNA repair 3'-phosphodiesterase [PDF]
An enzyme that plays an important role in the repair of oxidative DNA damage is the 3'-phosphodiesterase. This activity, which repairs damaged DNA 3'-termini,can be detected using several available biochemical assays. We present a method to detect 3'-phosphodiesterase activity of renatured proteins immobilized in polyacrylamide gels.

The Azidofunctionalization of Alkenes
The azidofunctionalization of alkenes offers a powerful strategy for synthesizing nitrogen‐containing compounds by installing both an azide and a second functional group in one step. This approach, employing photoredox catalysis, transition metals, and radical methods, is efficient, selective, and versatile, with applications in pharmaceuticals and ...

Tonic and phasic nitric oxide signals in hippocampal long-term potentiation [PDF]
Nitric oxide ( NO) participates in long-term potentiation (LTP) and other forms of synaptic plasticity in many different brain areas but where it comes from and how it acts remain controversial.

The effects of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on the ‘forgotten’ right ventricle
Abstract With the progress in diagnosis, treatment and imaging techniques, there is a growing recognition that impaired right ventricular (RV) function profoundly affects the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF), irrespective of their left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).

Abstract Aims Myocardial inflammation and impaired mitochondrial oxidative capacity are hallmarks of heart failure (HF) pathophysiology. The extent of myocardial inflammation in patients suffering from ischaemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and its association with mitochondrial energy metabolism are unknown.
