Background Topo-poisons can produce an enzyme-DNA complex linked by a 3'- or 5'-phosphotyrosyl covalent bond. 3'-phosphotyrosyl bonds can be repaired by tyrosyl DNA phosphodiesterase-1 (TDP1), an enzyme known for years, but a complementary human enzyme 5'

CYCLIC 3',5'-NUCLEOTIDE PHOSPHODIESTERASE IN BRAIN [PDF]
The distribution of cyclic 3',5'-nucleotide phosphodiesterase activity in the rabbit central nervous system has been studied with a quantitative micromethod. A wide range of values between various structures was observed, but correlations with cellular density, monoamine content or other enzymes were not apparent.

Disinhibition of hippocampal CA3 neurons induced by suppression of an adenosine A1 receptor-mediated inhibitory tonus: Pre- and postsynaptic components [PDF]
Intracellular recordings were performed on hippocampal CA3 neuronsin vitro to investigate the inhibitory tonus generated by endogenously produced adenosine in this brain region.

Evaluation of antidepressant and anxiolytic activity of phosphodiesterase 3 inhibitor - Cilostazol
Background: Cyclic nucleotide Phosphodiesterases (PDEs) are ubiquitously distributed in mammalian tissues and play a major role in cell signaling by hydrolyzing cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate (cAMP) and cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP).

Human phosphodiesterase 4D7 (PDE4D7) expression is increased in TMPRSS2-ERG positive primary prostate cancer and independently adds to a reduced risk of post-surgical disease progression [PDF]
background: There is an acute need to uncover biomarkers that reflect the molecular pathologies, underpinning prostate cancer progression and poor patient outcome.

Summary: Tyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterase (TDP1) hydrolyzes the phosphodiester bond between a DNA 3′ end and a tyrosyl moiety and is implicated in the repair of trapped topoisomerase I (Top1)-DNA covalent complexes (Top1cc).

Is phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor use associated with condom breakage? [PDF]
This is an open access article - Copyright © 2009 by the BMJ Publishing Group Ltd. All rights reserved. We tested the hypothesis that phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5i) use would be associated with increased likelihood of condom breakage using an

Cardiac hypertrophy is inhibited by a local pool of cAMP regulated by phosphodiesterase 2 [PDF]
Rationale: Chronic elevation of 3'-5'-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels has been associated with cardiac remodelling and cardiac hypertrophy.

Role of phosphodiesterase in glucagon resistance of large adipocytes
The role of phosphodiesterase in glucagon resistance of large adipocytes was investigated. A comparison was made of phosphodiesterase activities of homogenates prepared from isolated small (mean diameter ≃ 45 μm) and large (mean diameter ≃ 78 μm ...
