Phospholipase D

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids, 1996
Abstract:Phospholipase D is an ubiquitous enzyme that hydrolyzes phosphatidylcholine to phosphatidic acid and choline. Its cellular actions are related to the production of phosphatidic acid and include alterations to cell growth, shape, and secretion.

Bacterial phospholipases

Trends in Microbiology, 1997
The phospholipases are a diverse group of enzymes, produced by a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The roles of these enzymes in the pathogenesis of infectious disease is equally diverse. It is only recently that molecular genetic approaches have allowed data to be obtained which indicates the role of these enzymes in the disease ...

Phospholipase C

2012
Phospholipase C (PLC) family members constitute a family of diverse enzymes. Thirteen different family members have been cloned. These family members have unique structures that mediate diverse functions. Although PLC family members all appear to signal through the bi-products of cleaving phospholipids, it is clear that each family member, and at times

Phospholipases in yeast

Seminars in Cell & Developmental Biology, 1997
The central role that different phospholipases play in many signal transduction pathways has been intensively studied by classical biochemical and molecular approaches. One approach not extensively pursued, has been the use of yeast as a model system for functional analysis of different aspects of phospholipase signalling.

Mammalian Phospholipase C

Annual Review of Physiology, 2013
Phospholipase C (PLC) converts phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) to inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG). DAG and IP3 each control diverse cellular processes and are also substrates for synthesis of other important signaling molecules. PLC is thus central to many important interlocking regulatory networks.

Cytosolic phospholipase A2

Journal of Lipid Mediators and Cell Signalling, 1995
To summarize the regulation of cPLA2, we have proposed a model for the activation of cPLA2 based both on our previous studies (Clark et al., 1991; Lin et al., 1993) and the work of many others (Fig. 5). In this model, cPLA2 is tightly regulated by multiple pathways, including those that control Ca2+ concentration, phosphorylation states and cPLA2 ...
