Temperature Correction in a Single Luminophore Pressure‐Sensitive Paint Using a Dual‐Emitting Gold Acridine Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 30, 14 August 2026.
The use of pressure‐sensitive luminescent molecules to quantify surface pressure in wind tunnel testing has revolutionized experimental aerodynamics. This work develops a dual‐emitting gold acridine complex for the simultaneous sensing of pressure and temperature independently of each other.

Color‐Pure Organic Luminophores: Characteristics, Definitions, Physical Basis and Fundamental Design Principles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 30, 20 July 2026.
Color‐pure all‐organic emitters, i.e., with narrow spectral characteristics, are intensively studied for high‐definition organic LEDs and multi‐color bioimaging. In order to guide targeted materials design, this educative review discusses spectral characteristics, proper definitions and units, and the physical basis of spectral broadening, to distill ...

Fluorescence Tuning of Carbon Dots from Red to Blue via UV‐Induced Photochemical Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 43, 3 August 2026.
A UV‐driven photochemical process enables continuous color evolution of carbon dots from red to blue using a single irradiation parameter. Progressive photoetching restructures graphitic domains and surface states, allowing full visible‐spectrum emission control.

Trap Depth Modulation and Antenna Effect of Organic Ligands for Enhancing Rare‐Earth Long Persistent Luminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 46, 17 August 2026.
Different from the current research trends that mainly focus on optimizing a single color system, a universal organic–inorganic hybrid strategy is proposed, aiming to synergistically enhance the luminescent properties of red, green, and blue multi‐color inorganic long‐persistent phosphorescent materials by trap depth modulation and antenna effect of ...

Self‑Protective Carbonized Polymer Dots Enabling Ultralong Room‑Temperature Phosphorescence in Strong and Tough Flexible Gels

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
The trade‐off between intersystem crossing and triplet exciton stabilization in PVA‐based self‐protective CPDs is resolved by tuning the alcoholysis degree of PVA. Using PVA with 88% alcoholysis affords NCD88 with an ultralong RTP lifetime of 1.05 s.

A Water‐Soluble Fluorescent 2,5‐bis(arylethynyl)rhodacyclopentadiene for Live‐Cell Imaging and Sensing of DNA, RNA, and Protein (BSA)

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 8, August 2026.
A water‐soluble and ‐stable 2,5‐bis(arylethynyl)rhodacyclopentadiene fluoresces, with no observable phosphorescence. However, competitive ISC to T1 leads to potent 1O2 sensitization. It binds strongly to DNA, RNA, and protein (BSA); efficiently enters living human cells accumulating preferentially in mitochondrial membranes; and is nontoxic even at ...

How Structural Subtleties Modulate Excited‐State Lifetimes in Cyclometalated Cobalt(III) Complexes: Nonadiabatic Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 47, Issue 20, July 30, 2026.
Nonadiabatic trajectory simulations unravel the origin of different relaxation times scales observed for two Co(III) complexes, bearing different alkyl groups at their ligands. ABSTRACT Ultrafast excited‐state dynamics of two Co(III) complexes, bearing different alkyl groups (Co1: Methyl, Co2: Ethyl) at the nitrogen of the imidazole ligand, are ...
