Chemotrophic Microbial Mats and Their Potential for Preservation in the Rock Record [PDF]
Putative microbialites are commonly regarded to have formed in association with photosynthetic microorganisms, such as cyanobacteria. However, many modern microbial mat ecosystems are dominated by chemotrophic bacteria and archaea.

ABSTRACT Diverse invertebrate communities inhabiting carbonate rocks at methane seeps may rely on a mix of local chemosynthetic production and sinking photosynthetic organic matter, with relative importance shaped by environmental conditions. We investigate the contribution of chemosynthetic carbon to macrofaunal diets at six Southern California ...

Abstract Bird seasonal migration is a remarkable biogeographic phenomenon, yet its deep‐time origin(s) and evolutionary history remain poorly understood, with the bird fossil record largely overlooked. This study explores the predictability of bird migratory behaviour from the oxygen isotope composition of their bone apatite phosphate (δ18Op), a ...

TECHNOLOGY OF PHOSPHORITE AND GLAUCONITE-BASED PHOSPHORITE FERTILIZERS IN KARAKALPAKSTAN
In order to develop a simplified technology for obtaining phosphorus fertilizers, the process of chemical activation of Khojakul phosphorite flour with mineral fertilizers, which are the main standard fertilizers in agricultural production, was studied. Decomposition of glauconite with nitric, sulfuric and phosphoric acids was carried out.

Well design as a factor contributing to loss of water from the Floridan Aquifer, eastern Clay County, Florida [PDF]
A number of wells penetrating the Floridan aquifer in eastern Clay County were found to be losing water to permeable zones above this aquifer. A differential in artesian pressure was observed in closely spaced wells of similar depth.

ABSTRACT The cities of Petra and Udhruh were administrative and cultural centers in southern Jordan from Nabataean through Roman and Byzantine times into the early Islamic periods (first century BCE to eighth century CE). These communities built water harvesting systems to be able to survive in this arid environment.
