Enhancing Cereal Crop Tolerance to Low-Phosphorus Conditions Through Fertilisation Strategies: The Role of Silicon in Mitigating Phosphate Deficiency

open access: yesAgronomy
Phosphorus is a fundamental macronutrient, yet its low bioavailability in most soils makes phosphorus deficiency one of the most persistent constraints limiting global crop productivity.

The Impact of Fulvic Acids on Cotton Growth, Yield and Phosphorus Fertilizer Use Efficiency Under Different Phosphorus Fertilization Rates in Xinjiang, China

open access: yesAgronomy
Chemical phosphorus (P) fertilizer is often overused in arid regions with alkaline soils due to soil fixation. Fulvic acid (FA) can increase soil P availability, enhancing crop yield and P use efficiency, but its interaction with P fertilization rates ...

A comparison between legume technologies and fallow, and their effects on maize and soil traits, in two distinct environments of the West African savannah

open access: yes, 2008
Legume¿maize rotation and maize nitrogen (N)-response trials were carried out simultaneously from 1998 to 2004 in two distinct agro-ecological environments of West Africa: the humid derived savannah (Ibadan) and the drier northern Guinea savannah (Zaria).

Non-rhizobial endophyte recruitment and diversity in Pisum sativum are strongly shaped by phosphorus fertilizer form

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiome
Background Non-rhizobial endophytes (NREs) support plant health and nodule function by enhancing symbiotic interactions and nitrogen fixation. However, their recruitment dynamics under fertilizers of varying phosphorus solubility remain poorly understood.

The annual cycle of growth and reproduction of planktonic blue-green algae in the Salopian meres

open access: yes, 1977
PhDThe physical and, chemical factors which affect sporulation, and the growth and survival of vegetative populations of blue-green algae were examined in two eutrophic kataglacial lakes of the Ellesmere (North Salop) group of meres.

Combined Gravimetric, Electrochemical, and Computational Research on Benzothiophene Derivatives as Effective Corrosion Inhibitors for Mild Steel

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Four benzothiophenes, thianaphthene (BT‐1), 3‐bromothianaphthene (BT‐2), benzo[b]thiophene‐2‐carboxaldehyde (BT‐3), and benzo[b]thiophene‐2‐carbonitrile (BT‐4), were tested as mild steel corrosion inhibitors in 1‐M HCl. The compounds have the similar benzothiophene core but differ in the substituents bound to the ring.

Bedrock-soil geochemistry dominates free-living nitrogen fixation in soils but not in litter via interspecific microbial associations

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Free-living nitrogen fixation is an important pathway for nitrogen inputs into soil and litter ecosystems. Here we compared free-living nitrogen fixation in forest soils and litter layers between limestone and clastic rock.

'Mini-Ilperveld' data on Sphagnum and diazotrophs from experiment in water bath lab in Radboud University Nijmegen with deep peat monoliths and Sphagnum from Ilperveld

open access: yes, 2017
This dataset is used for our paper ‘Symbiosis revisited: phosphorus and acid buffering stimulate N2 fixation but not Sphagnum growth’ in Biogeosciences.

Synergistic Physicochemical Inhibition of Reactive Shale Formations Using Hydrothermally Synthesized Hydroxyapatite Nickel Tungstate Nanocomposites in Water‐Based Drilling Fluids

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Wellbore instability driven by the volumetric expansion of reactive shale formations remains a primary operational challenge in modern drilling engineering, causing severe mechanical failures and substantial economic deficits. The objective of this study is to formulate and evaluate a novel dual‐action chemical additive capable of ...
