Nitrogen fixation by a Bangladesh deepwater rice-field calothrix [PDF]
In order to study the influence on blue-green algal nitrogenase activity of environmental variables in deepwater rice-fields (DWR), a laboratory study was planned on a DWR isolate of Calothrix (D764).

Seawater carbonate chemistry and nitrogen fixation by phosphorus-limited Trichodesmium
Growth of the prominent nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium Trichodesmium is often limited by phosphorus availability in the ocean. How nitrogen fixation by phosphorus-limited Trichodesmium may respond to ocean acidification remains poorly understood.

A robust plant protein adhesive was prepared by fabricating a bi‐continuous organic–inorganic hybrid structure. Compared with traditional organic–inorganic hybrid adhesives, the addition amount of inorganic phase is increased from 0.2%–3.0% to 50%, and the strength and toughness are increased by 6 and 121 times, respectively.

Salinity affects microbial function genes related to nutrient cycling in arid regions
IntroductionSalinization damages soil system health and influences microbial communities structure and function. The response of microbial functions involved in the nutrient cycle to soil salinization is a valuable scientific question.

Surface‐host dialogue at the implant interface governs biological fate and osseointegration. Surface physicochemical properties of titanium (Ti) dental implants, including microgrooves, nanopatterns, nanotopography, roughness, and wettability, modulate the initial adsorption of proteins and the formation of a dynamic biointerface.

High numbers of Trichodesmium and diazotrophic diatoms in the southwest Indian Ocean [PDF]
We observed high cell numbers of large (>50?m) nitrogen-fixing phytoplankton to the south and to the east of Madagascar in February 2005. The distribution of the diazotrophic taxa we found was markedly different: Trichodesmium was most abundant (500 ...

Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...
